Alsager Community Theatre (ACT) was founded in 1973.  Traditionally it has produced 4 plays each year and has gained a reputation for acclaimed productions of Shakespeare and other early classics. 

The company is proud of its 35 year, award-winning repertoire that has included Webster, Sheridan, Chekhov, Wilde, Brecht, Coward,  Rattigan, Miller, Pinter, Ayckbourn, Bennett and Stoppard.  The current company members also look back just as fondly to enthusiastic productions of Cinderella, Stags and Hens and Stepping Out as they do to Equus, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Doctor Faustus.   

ACT’s directors have shocked local audiences with Death and the Maiden (1996) and challenged them with a vibrant, contemporary Henry V (1999), as well as delighting them with a witty and beautifully costumed Much Ado About Nothing (2002) and the multi-award-winning Humble Boy (2007).

ACT is always delighted to welcome potential new members to the group, whether interested in acting or in any other aspect of theatre production.  We meet each Wednesday evening from 7.45pm to 9.45pm in the upper room of Alsager Library.
